The story goes that in the 18th century, the pirate Black Sam Bellamy, hunted by the Royal Navy, sailed up the Seine disguised as a merchant. Aboard his ship “Le Revenant”, he was carrying fabulous treasure stolen from wealthy Chinese merchants. One foggy evening, docked near Paris, he buried the booty on a forgotten bank, vowing to take it back when he could, but Black Sam disappeared that same night, victim of the curse of the 3 Big Dragons, and the treasure was lost with him… or almost, as persistent rumors speak of some clues left in the mahjong tiles. Will you be clever enough to find his treasure? But, beware: the spirit of Black Sam is still watching, his sword in his hand.
Organized by the Parisian club Mahjong en Seine, the Pirates Cup – Upon the Seine’s Tides is our first MERS MCR tournament. Taking place on February 7th and 8th, 2026, it will bring together up to 100 participants over 7 rounds of 1h55.
All that stands between you and victory is the registration…. and 99 mahjong-hungry pirates !!

The tournament will take place at the Mercure Paris la Défense Grande Arche hotel, which combines comfort, modernity and elegance, in the heart of the La Défense business district, with rapid access to the center of Paris.

Registration – opens September 7, 2025 at 2pm
75 euros are required to enrich the pirate treasure. To thank you for your donation, the tavern keeper will offer you the following during the 2 days: a morning welcome with coffee/tea and pastries, 1 hot dish + dessert for lunch and 2 snacks per day. The amount is reduced to 55€ if you do not order the lunches.
Feel free to bring your own cups – our planet will thank you for that 😉
To be paid by bank transfer (RIB Mahjong En Seine) before January 18, 2026, specifying your name and EMA number in your payment description.
Registration will only be confirmed once your donation has been received. Until payment is received, the player remains on the waiting list and their participation in the tournament is not guaranteed. After January 18, there will be no refund for cancellations.
As of January 18, 2026 (payment deadline), any registered players who have not completed their payment yet will be accepted only if a full table (a multiple of 4 players) can be added. The maximum number of participants is 100 players.
